Terms of Service
Last updated:
Welcome to Actually Free QR Codes ("AFQR", "we", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at afqr.codes and any related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who can use AFQR
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you create a dynamic short URL by signing in, you confirm that the information in your Google account is accurate and that you have authority to use it.
2. The Service
- Static QR codes are generated entirely in your browser and never leave your device. They are free, unlimited, and require no account.
- Dynamic QR codes (short URLs that redirect through afqr.codes, with editable destinations and scan stats) are free and require a Google sign-in. Accounts are limited to 1,000 dynamic codes as an anti-abuse measure.
- QR codes you generate are yours to use anywhere — packaging, posters, signage, billboards, business cards. We claim no ownership of them or the destinations they point to.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service, and not to point any QR code or short URL generated by the Service, to do or distribute any of the following:
- Anything illegal in your jurisdiction or in the United States — including fraud, phishing, malware, child sexual abuse material, intellectual property infringement, harassment, threats, doxxing, unauthorized access to systems or data, or sanctioned-party transactions.
- SHAFT content — sexual or sexually explicit content, hateful content (content that promotes violence, harassment, or discrimination against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability), and content related to alcohol, firearms, or tobacco where it would be delivered to or accessible by minors or where prohibited by law.
- Spam, deceptive redirects, link-laundering to evade other platforms' safety systems, redirect chains intended to obscure a destination, or any attempt to disguise the true endpoint of a link.
- Anything that interferes with the Service — automated abuse, attempts to bypass rate limits or the per-account code cap, scraping at volume, or trying to break authentication.
- Reselling or rebranding the Service as your own.
4. Enforcement and termination
We may disable any short URL, suspend any account, or terminate access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe in good faith that this Section's rules have been broken or that doing so is necessary to protect the Service or others. We may also cooperate with law enforcement when legally required. Static QR codes you've already downloaded are yours — we have no way to disable them and won't try.
5. Cost
The Service is free. We may, in the future, introduce optional paid features, but no part of the Service available today will become paid retroactively. The Service is supported by small, non-tracking ads shown only inside the signed-in admin dashboard — never on the QR scans seen by end users.
6. No warranty; "as is"
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific short URL will resolve forever, though that's our intent.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AFQR and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100).
8. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify AFQR against any claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms — particularly the destinations of any short URLs you create.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
